Welcome to Virtual-Flat.com! The goal of a place like this is to be your center for 3D modeling (primarily in SOLIDWORKS), 3D printing, product reviews, and informative articles. Here, at VirtualFlat, we believe that learning and education should not only be affordable, but the content should resonate with the learner. That’s why I strive to make all the tutorials and learning content as interesting as possible. To do this I borrow from pop and nerd culture as the subject for my videos (or really, anything that’s interesting!). So if you’ve always wanted to learn SOLIDWORKS, see cool projects and the like, bookmark our page and stay tuned!
Biography
Hi there! My name is Rob and I am passionate about engineering and anything 3D! I grew up in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale where my passion started! My love for engineering has always permeated my life. Ever since I could physically hold a screwdriver, I have been a tinkerer. Armed with my dad’s toolkit, I took apart anything that had screws. VHS players, speakers, computers (I was an expensive child) would all be dismantled so I could learn its secrets. As I was growing up I picked up more hobbies to satisfy my tactile cravings. I played the guitar for a number of years (awarded a number of accolades even), learned to repair old computers out of nostalgia, but I loved to play video games. It all started with a PS1 and branched out from there. Just take one look at my project portfolio (Under Blogs) and you will see what effect this had on my childhood!
In high school, I joined the robotics team which further fueled the fire for engineering. When it came to choosing a college, it was Case Western Reserve University that met my needs. There, I was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to play guitar, but also was allowed to pursue mechanical engineering as a separate major. In 2017, I graduated with two separate bachelor’s degrees: A B.A. in General Musicianship and a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
It was also in this time that I discovered my love of 3D modeling, especially with SOLIDWORKS. I became very fond of teaching others and this site here is an extension of that. Feel free to get in touch or leave comments on my videos and articles. This is a learning experience for me as well! I look forward to teaching all of you!
